Colour mixing eye dropper painting (3 - 4 year olds)

Practice early penmanship skills while creating art!

Home Learning

You will need

  • eye droppers
  • water
  • red, yellow and blue coloured dye
  • dishes or bowls

What to do

Ideally you will have a dish like the one used in the picture but if not lay out 6 different dishes filled with water and start by dropping the red, blue and yellow into 3 separate dishes. Then ask your child to mix each colour together to create purple, green and orange and ask them what they see each time. Once all the colours have been created your child can use the eye droppers to suck up the coloured water and drop it onto a piece of paper. This is an excellent way for your child to practice their tripod grip and develop their early penmanship skills.
