In Hong Kong, most of people will use chopsticks to eat noodles. However, some people can’t use chopsticks as they haven’t practice when they were young. Therefore, it’s good to have some practice for children at home!
You just need some string (for pretend noodles), a plate or a bowl and a pair of chopsticks. You don’t need to teach children how to use chopsticks now. It’s good for them to have some exploration in this activity. You can guide children to pick some noodles into the plate or the bowl. It’s also a good activity to practice their fine motor skills.
You will need
- a plate/bowl
- Eye-hand coordination
- Fine motor skills: Improve fingers flexibility, try to control the movements of their hands freely.
Ask your child
- How do you think you should grab the noodles?
- How do you think you can hold the chopsticks?
